YOU WANT TO BE A WRITER? THEN WRITE.

typewriterI couldn’t understand the difference between “I write” and “I am a writer” until I let go of every rejected query letter all the way back to every red-pen notation on every school essay I’d ever written.

It took a while.

Neil Gaiman, author of American Gods and The Sandman, sums up writers like this:

“You get ideas all the time. The only difference between writers and other people is we notice when we’re doing it.”

So start paying attention.
